My name is Cat. I am a very keen runner but also love cycling, triathlons and hill walking. Positive mental health is central to our day-to-day living, and I believe exercise plays a huge role. I have professional and personal experience in the mental health field. I have worked as a Social Worker with neurodiverse children and currently work with adults with long-term and enduring mental health problems, so I understand there are many barriers to engaging in a sport like running.
Passion for Women’s Health
As a female athlete, as well as a mother of three, I understand that hormones, stress and sleep issues can impact your training. I am passionate about women’s health and supporting women to achieve their goals, whilst ensuring that family comes first. It is possible to work, train and have a happy family life, but you have to be smart with your time and that is something I can help you with.
I believe running is one of the best methods to regulate anxiety, but I also recognise the importance of rest, recovery, strength training and nutrition within my work with you. I want to work with you holistically and get to know you, your lifestyle, your strengths and weaknesses. I have a degree in psychology, which I utilise to support my athletes with mindset training, visualisation and to work through any difficulties. Keeping running fun is central to my ethos. If you’re not enjoying it, it won’t provide the physical and mental benefits.
Creating an Inclusive & Supportive Environment
I completed my Jog Scotland training and started my own run club in January 2022 as a means to connect with other runners in my village and support people to access our local trails safely. This led onto training to be a Run Coach and work with athletes on a 1:1 basis online as I wanted to share my love for running and help others more specifically. I work with people from different backgrounds and I really value diversity and respect difference. I do this by creating an inclusive and supportive environment for my athletes. Communication is central to my ethos and it’s important that I have regular conversations with my athletes so my services are offered by fortnightly video call to plan your training and find out how you are. I believe that this offers meaningful contact in a person centered way. In addition, I provide regular feedback on the app for all your runs and I am contactable for support out with your running schedule for any issues that may arise. I support any goals whether that’s training for your first 5k or racing a marathon, if it’s important to you, it’s important to me.
Coaching for Busy Lives
I understand the challenges of trying to juggle a busy work life, kids, family and still have time to socialise! There are many ways to make it fit into your life and coaching is a great way to have someone support you with a plan that’s tailored to only you. If this sounds like it will work for you then please fill out the contact form to help me determine if we would be a good fit for one another and I will contact you to arrange a free video call.
Best wishes,
Cat
